What does the TOEFL test involve?
- Reading Section: There are three or four reading passages in this section. You must answer 12 to 14 questions in each passage. You get between 60 and 80 minutes to answer the questions, depending on the timetable. Typically, the reading excerpts are from basic university-level books.
- Listening section: The first section consists of four to six lectures, each lasting three to five minutes. Each lecture will give you 60 to 90 minutes to answer six questions. After that, there are two to three three-minute talks. Each chat will need you to answer five questions, and you will have 60 to 90 minutes to do so. It’s critical to understand that you can take notes on the listening material throughout the exam.
- Speaking section:Three to six qualified human raters examine your recorded responses in this stage, which are then sent to the ETS Scoring Network. On a scale of 0 to 4, the raters assign a score. You have six jobs to do, which are graded on a scale of 0 to 30. Please keep in mind that you do not have to sound like a native English speaker. The raters are essentially listening to how effective your communication is.
- Writing Section: You will be assigned two projects in this section: integrated writing and autonomous writing. After reading a short passage and listening to a short lecture, you have 20 minutes to compose your response.
